A Lesson in Greed: The Dog and His Reflection

A dog was going down a riverbed with a tasty bone in his jaws. As he crossed a bridge, he peered down into the river and saw his reflection. Thinking it was another dog with a larger bone, he felt envious and tried to grab it from the “other dog.”

In an effort to grasp the other bone, he expanded his jaws and let go of his own. As soon as the bone dropped into the water, it sunk and was gone. The dog gazed hopelessly as the bone he had formerly held vanished.

Realizing his error, the dog learnt that greed frequently leads one to lose what they already have.

Moral of the Story:
Don’t be greedy; you may lose what you already have.
