The hare and the tortoise lived in a distant jungle. A hare which used to take a joke with the tortoise and laughed at his slow pace.
“Why are you so slow? “Do you ever arrive anywhere on time! he would say.
The tortoise was offended by the rude comments of the hare but coolly mustered, “But how about we race and see who is actually faster?
The hare laughed upon hearing this and picked the other side of the hill for where to finish the race.
Off they went, and the hare soon bounded far beyond in all his speed and confidence. So confident of his victory was the hare that he lay down for a short while to sleep.
The tortoise just continued to move forward despite the bravado showing hare sleeping. The tortoise made it to the finish line before the hare had even awakened from his nap and dashed over to where he needed to be for a victory.
Moral of the Story:
Overconfidence can lead to failure. It’s important not to underestimate others.
